Atlanta Gynecologic Surgeon Assia Stepanian, M.D., F.A.C.O.G. to Give Keynote Address at the Inaugural Atlanta and Southeast Region MRKH Conference

Atlanta’s own Dr. Assia Stepanian, a board-certified gynecologic surgeon, recognized the world-over for her work in the field of Mullerian anomalies and Mayer-Rokitansky-Kuster-Hauser Syndrome (MRKH), in partnership with The Beautiful You Foundation, will host the Inaugural Atlanta and Southeast Region MRKH Conference on Saturday, September 30th.

MRKH is named for the four physicians who first diagnosed the congenital (present at birth), condition that results from the incomplete development of the female reproductive tract and occurs in approximately one in 5000 females.   

The MRKH Conference is an educational event that will feature patients and physicians and is designed to bring stories of hope and healing to those affected by MRKH, their family members, and health care providers.  It will be held from 8:30 a.m. until 5 p.m. at Mercer University’s Atlanta Administration and Conference Center at 2930 Flowers Road South, Atlanta, GA.  Register at the conference website: www.beautifulyoumrkh.org/Atlanta-registration.html

About Dr. Assia Stepanian:

Dr. Stepanian is a board-certified gynecologist and the founder and principal of Atlanta’s Academia of Women’s Health & Endoscopic Surgery. She has devoted much of her career to enriching the lives of women affected by MRKH.  She had the privilege of being personally trained in Russia by her mother, Dr. Leila Adamyan who created ground-breaking laparoscopic surgeries for treatment of some of the manifestations of MRKH.  In an effort to share the advanced surgical techniques she had mastered, Dr. Stepanian moved to the United States in 2005 and continues to mentor doctors and patients alike. She served as a visiting professor at Cornell University where she presented “Endoscopic Treatment of MRKH and Mullerian Anomalies” and has authored and co-authored numerous chapters and articles on the topic.
