United States, Arizona, Phoenix - 10/10/2019 (PRESS RELEASE JET)

California Consumer Protection Act (CCPA) to go into effect January 1, 2020

CCPA, a California bill designed to increase consumer privacy rights and protections, applies to any for-profit business in California that collects consumer personal data with either annual gross revenues in excess of $25 million and possession of personal information of 50,000 or more consumers, or if earnings from selling consumer information comprise more than half of annual revenues. Businesses that must comply with the increased consumer protections will need to evaluate current data management practices or face the potential for financial penalties. To learn more about the impacts of CCPA, you can download the SAP and ECENTA whitepaper here.

“While this is a California initiative, we expect that in this age of digital commerce the bill will impact businesses outside of that geography,” said Robert Burgess, Senior Solutions Architect for ECENTA. “We’re advising our clients about SAP Customer Data Cloud because it can manage data in ways consistent with the bill, mitigate risks from non-compliance – and still deliver a frictionless customer experience.”

CCPA consumer protections require that businesses provide consumers with knowledge about what personal data is being collected from them and how their data is being used, the ability to say no to the sale of their personal data, and the right to control access their data. CCPA is expected to impact a number of key business processes in sales, marketing, customer service, and finance.

SAP Customer Data Cloud is a cloud-based platform that helps businesses manage these increased protections by identifying online visitors securely and safeguarding every interaction touchpoint with federation standards and options. The technology provides the capability to manage identity, consent, and consumer profiles, and does so consistent with best practices in customer experience.
