SEATTLE, WA - 01/12/2018 (PRESS RELEASE JET)

This is the story of an incredible woman and her even more incredible life, written as she told it to her daughter. Born and raised in an age when women were mostly seen and not heard, Bernice starts off as a shy and naïve girl who is later on transformed by her experiences in life. She grows up in a small town, where she and her family experience ostracism, although it was something they never really talked about. Before she was twenty, she was thrust into the role of a traditional 1950s housewife, but in truth her life would demand so much of her. She worked as psychiatric ward nurse at a hospital for the insane, suffered from an abusive husband, and even comes near death at one point, all while struggling to raise her children.

Bernice: A Fiery Story of Love and Family: In Her Daughter’s Pen further takes the reader through Bernice’s life in the sixties and seventies, while she goes through a painful divorce and custody battles and deals with a kidnapping, teenagers, drugs, alcohol, and more. Women of all ages and backgrounds will relate and empathize with Bernice’s struggles and will be able to find in her a role model of womanly strength, courage, and grit.
