Tech From Vets Launches The Vets 22 App To Help Save Veterans Lives

It all started with a question: “What is being done to help veterans transition into life after the service?” When retired NFL veteran Drayton Florence posed this question to a retired Army Veteran, the answer was to find resources on your own or use the VA for assistance. It was clear that something needed to be done to help veterans transition into civilian life easier and with less stress involved. That's where the Vets 22 App comes in. Drayton along with Iraq War Veteran Jeff Shuford decided to develop the Vets 22 app in order to have all of the necessary resources for veterans all in one place. No endless searching hours on Google without desired results and confusing lists of websites that “might” be able to help. The Vets 22 App makes resources immediately available, like suicide prevention hotlines, at the touch of a button.

“We believe veterans are going to find lifesaving resources with our app,” says Drayton Florence, NFL Veteran and Co-founder of the Vets 22 app. “This Indiegogo campaign, to raise $50,000, will help us get this app into the hands of our heroes as soon as possible”. Everyday, 22 veterans take their lives because of PTSD, depression, and feeling like they are alone and that there is no help and no way out. A Pew Research study found that Veterans who served in the post-9/11 period report more difficulties returning to civilian life than those who served in Vietnam or the Korean War/World War II era, or in the periods between major conflicts. The Vets 22 app features one-touch resources to suicide hotlines, where to find food pantries and homeless shelters, VIP for Vets (where veterans can find discounts on goods and services), along with volunteer organizations and contact information to Veteran Organizations and fitness facilities. The Vets 22 app also features an easy to use chat feature that will connect them with other veterans in their area so they can chat with those that may be going through similar situations.

Within its first week, the Vets 22 app has been featured on numerous Global media outlets such as The Huffington Post, The NFL Network, MSNBC, and The Jacksonville Business Journal among others. The Vets 22 team is currently raising $50,000 to continue their marketing efforts to get this free app into the hands of veterans and enlisted military personnel in Jacksonville through social media campaigns and advertising, press opportunities, sponsored military and veteran related events, and to conduct market research to help increase visibility in both the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.
