April 15, 2019, Colorado Springs CO — A primary survey by 360º Life Strategies shows 10 in 12 women rate wellness as the number one priority to improve workplace efficiency and productivity. The findings corroborate with workplace wellness statistics showing that employee wellness improves behavior, reduces elevated health risks and health care costs, improves productivity and decreases absenteeism, according to an article in WellSteps by Dr. Steve Aldana.

"What company executive would hire a high-performing employee with the agreement that they will give a full 60% effort?” asks Donna Carlson with 360º Life Strategies. "Yet this is the reality when we don’t emphasize wellness as a critical factor in human capital performance.”

In a weekend deep-dive workshop for professional women to increase their mindfulness, performance and productivity at work, Carlson found 10 out of 12 self-assessments pointing to wellness as the #1 mitigating factor to optimal performance. Dr. Aldana’s research explains productivity in terms of presenteeism, estimating that “the cost associated with presenteeism due to poor employee health is at least 2 to 3 times greater than direct health care expenses.”

"In simple terms, employee wellness is largely about mindfulness and self-insight. When employees are educated on how they can optimize their energy and mental agility, they are equipped to spot red flags and change their behavior faster,” Carlson notes. She teaches in her workshops a five-step plan for optimal human performance she calls a NeuroRx – a prescription to flood the brain with the neurochemicals it needs for peak performance.

  1. Get 8 hours of sleep every night, even if you need to take a sleep aid.
  2. Eat real food that grows out of the ground, not out of a drive-through window.
  3. Raise your heart rate through movement for 20 minutes every day.
  4. Fuel your beliefs with positive inspiration first thing every day.
  5. Play. Spend time with friends doing things that bring you joy.

This system was designed as part of Carlson’s Life Strategy Design Workshop, using a holistic approach to develop the inner strength to live and lead well by understanding human design.
