WEIGHT LOSS CENTER CLIENTS DONATE EXCESS FOOD TO THE HUNGRY

Some local Summit area residents have plentiful access to food while other local residents do not.  Next week the clients of Premier Health of Summit are donating food and other items to those in need during the first annual “Drop It Off & Take It Off”  as part of their Christmas In July campaign to support less fortunate members of the community.  Specifically, they are donating to The Salvation Army.

“We are very grateful for this campaign,” noted Lieutenant Barney of the Plainfield Salvation Army. “Everyone is familiar with the Holiday Red Kettle Campaign but the on-going need is real and present during the rest of the year as well,” added the Lieutenant.

Local practice owner Dr. Brian Anderson said, “The concept of Drop It Off & Take It Off was inspired by our clients who have had ready access to food their whole lives resulting in excess weight.  Many pointed out during their weight loss the contradiction of having plenty of food while others often go without.”

To help bring attention to the needs of the community Premier Health of Summit is discounting their weight loss programs based on the total weight of a donation.   Anderson explained, “We truly hope our clients and the public clean out their pantry of non-perishable foods others desperately need.  We are also accepting personal care and cleaning products as donations.”  Premier Health of Summit is also extending similar discounts to their other services as well.

According to Lieutenant Barney items needed include canned meats like tuna, chicken and ham,  pasta, juice, Kool-Aid, tea, coffee, dry creamer and baby items such as all sizes of diapers, cleaning supplies and personal care items as well.  The traditional Red Kettle will also be present for those who wish to make a cash donation.

Anderson noted that others are welcome to use the center all week as drop off location for the Salvation Army.  “Our goal for our inaugural year is 300 pounds of food and goods,’ remarked Kramer.
