WASHINGTON, DC - 09/19/2016 (PRESS RELEASE JET)

In August the world was memorized by the glitter of gold. While the Olympics focused on international competition, in September international culture takes center stage in DC Fashion Week’s 25th season.  This silver anniversary promises to be the global fashion showcase, with diversity seen nowhere else.

When silver is first

DC Fashion Week (DCFW) has earned the accolades of the Washington Awards Program (Best Tourist Attraction 2016) and BizBash (#3 of the Top 100 Events since 2009) for good reason.  Many international designers select the nation’s capital as the site for their US premiere.  This year represents the largest number of local, national and international labels presenting.  As it does every season, the list of participating countries grows; now to include Ethiopia and ten fashion houses from Estonia.

Opening ceremony

Experienced fashionistas have saved the date for the kickoff event on Wednesday, September 21st.  Yards Park will transform into the perfect backdrop for an affair including live entertainment, the opening fashion show, and pop-up retail shops.   Don’t miss featured guest model Steven Beck soon appearing in Vivica Fox’s new reality series on Lifetime.  It sets the bar for five evenings of elegance supported by major sponsors including Capitol Riverfront, MarketPlace Development, Dirty Martini, Events DC, CND Vinylux, and many more.

Anniversaries mark traditions

DCFW celebrates traditions with unique events. Thursday, September 22nd the Fashion Industry Networking Party puts trade professionals stylishly together at the largest fashion mixer in DC.  Friday, September 23rd continues a commitment to highlighting the importance of men’s fashion in the Washington Menswear Collection.  This event presents established labels such as Lacoste, Brooks Brothers, and Thomas Pink as well as special guest menswear designers.  Saturday, September 24th, rising U.S. fashion designers and indie music arts are featured in the Metropolitan Emerging Designers & Indie Artist Showcase (M.E.D.I.A) as a core part of DCFW’s mission to support future fashion industry leaders.

Everyone wins

When exceptional global talents, 100 diverse models and the latest ‘Glam Squad’ come together for the 25th International Couture Collections Show on Sunday, September 25th it illustrates the true spirit of international collaboration.   This dazzling gala is at the Carnegie Library in Washington DC’s Mount Vernon Square.   It is sure to be a finale of signature style only the inclusive partnerships of DC Fashion Week can bring.
