Dr. Jack Von Bulow has helped raise over $114,000 for the Smiles for Life Foundation over the last 18 years and pledges to continue his fundraising efforts.

3/10/2016 (PRESS RELEASE JET) -- Jack Von Bulow, known by his patients as “Dr. V”, is the owner of Temple City Dental Care in Temple City, CA.  For the last 18 years he and his staff have participated in Smiles for Life, an annual charity event organized by the Crown Council that runs from March through June.  In January 2016, Dr. V was inducted into the Smiles for Life Hall of Fame for raising over $114,000 over the years.

Dr. Von Bulow shares, “It was a great honor for my team and me to be recognized, but it’s really  a testament to our wonderful patients and community. There’s still plenty of people that need help, so we’re going to keep doing what we can.”

Since its inception in 1998 Smiles for Life program has has raised over $36 million for seriously ill, disabled, and disadvantaged children thanks to the participation from local communities and dentists like Dr. Von Bulow.

Greg Anderson, director of the Crown Council says, "Smiles For Life allows a person to help children in need by doing something that benefits them as well.  Our doctors donate their time and expertise, while Ultradent generously provides all Opalescence whitening products. You receive a brighter smile, and, best of all, provide children with a brighter future."

During the 4-month event, participating dentists reduce the costs of their teeth whitening services, typically by half, and donate all the proceeds to charity: 50% to the Smiles for Life Foundation, 50% to a charity of the dentist’s choice.

Last year Dr. V hit a personal best by raising $11,400 for City of Hope in Duarte, CA and will continue to support them in 2016.  One factor in their success was the addition of humorous incentives for their fundraising goals such as pies to the face and dressing in tutus, which they’ll also do this year.

“My pride comes a very distant second to raising awareness and help such a great institution as City of Hope,” says Von Bulow.  “If a higher dry cleaning bill or wearing the colors of my alma mater’s arch rivals makes it even a little bit easier for people to give to our cause, my team and I are all for it.”

As donations reach higher levels, Dr. V has even pledged to sing karaoke again, following up his 2015 rendition of the Garth Brooks classic “Friends in Low Places”.
