RapidIO.org member companies will demonstrate IDT’s RapidIO switching technology and showcase Mobiveil’s RapidIO 3.1 Controller (GRIO) IP solution

AUSTIN, TX - 4/7/2016 (PRESS RELEASE JET) -- RapidIO.org, the organization that promotes and develops standards for the RapidIO interconnect architecture, will exhibit several low latency edge computing appliances at the Open Server Summit 2016 Conference at the Santa Clara Convention Center in Santa Clara, CA April 13- 14, 2016. RapidIO.org will be at booth # 302-304 along with member companies Integrated Device Technology, Mobiveil, Prodrive Technologies, and Sarokal Test Systems.

At the Open Server Summit, IDT and Prodrive will be demonstrating multiple low latency edge computing appliances. These innovative appliances, based on work in the OCP High Performance Computing Project, include: a 19 inch 1U rack mountable Top of Rack Switch with 38×20 Gbps RapidIO ports with 100ns latency featuring IDT’s RapidIO switching technology and a converged switch+server appliance featuring 320 Gbps of built in RapidIO switching at 100ns latency with 4 computing sockets of Intel Broadwell CPUs clustered over RapidIO.

RapidIO.org member company Mobiveil will also be providing details of its RapidIO 3.1 Controller (GRIO) IP solution at the Open Server Summit Conference. GRIO when used along with Mobiveil’s RapidIO to AXI Bridge (RAB) provides high speed multi-channel DMA, Data Message and Data streaming functionality to match the bandwidth requirements of the RapidIO interface.

“With an ever increasing demand for faster data analytics and higher bandwidth mobility devices at the network edge, the performance limits for infrastructure computing continue to be pushed”, said Rick O’Connor, Executive Director at RapidIO.org.  “The low latency and guaranteed throughput of RapidIO make it ideal for use as a unified fabric in these performance critical computing applications.”
