Process Improvement Expert Rafael Marrero Earns Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belt Certification

MIAMI, FL - 2/25/2016 (PRESS RELEASE JET) -- Miami’s award-winning management consultant and leading process improvement expert Rafael Marrero, Founder and CEO of Rafael Marrero & Company, recently received certification as Master Black Belt (MBB), the zenith of Lean Six Sigma (LSS) certification within the quality management industry.

“I feel very honored to stand beside other industry Master Black Belts I have worked with and hold in great respect,” Marrero said of the top certification, considered by industry experts as the pinnacle in the Sigma Six and quality management community worldwide. Rafael Marrero, an alumnus of Stanford University’s Advanced Project Management Program, and process improvement practitioner, was certified last week. Rafael Marrero is a former Fortune 500 management executive with 30+ years diversified experience as a Chief of Staff, Director of Projects, Deputy Chief Information Officer (CIO), and VP of Vendor Management in the telecom, renewable energy and Information Technology sectors.

The requirements for MBB certification are rigorous. As an example, in Feb 2016, there were approximately 500 Six Sigma Black Belts throughout the U.S. Army. After first being certified as a Black Belt in Jan. 2013, Rafael Marrero met the challenge of teaching two cycles of the four-week program of instruction, conducting an LSS Project Identification and Selection workshop, coaching two other Black Belts to successful completion of their project and completing a second Black Belt level project for themselves.

Belts that were successfully coached by Marrero’s projects resulted in a cost avoidance or savings of $5,000,000 dollars over the program years of the processes improved in client firms. As Marrero reviewed the steps of the LSS methodology, he stressed the importance of identifying root causes for problems identified in each critical process step and in ensuring they are using the proper metrics in analyzing the process.

“You cannot manage what you do not measure. If we measure it, we can fix it,” said Marrero. In addition to the financial benefits that his client firms have received from his efforts, operational processes have been improved by as much as 250% through Marrero’s efforts.
