TRU SPORTS FOUNDATION ANNOUNCESĀ

2017 PRIVATE VS PUBLICĀ

ALL-STAR HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL GAME

LANCASTER, TX - 12/02/2016 (PRESS RELEASE JET)

Ninety standout high school athletes representing the DFW Metroplex will compete in TRU Sports Foundation’s Inaugural Private vs. Public All Star High School Football Showcase. The game will be played at Lancaster High School football stadium on Saturday, January 7, 2017. Kick-Off is at 6:30 p.m. Players will be joined on the sideline by current College Football players and former NFL players.

An All Star Showcase like no other. The Private vs Public All Star Showcase is a level playing field for each player that decides to try out for a roster spot. The student athletes first have to make the cut by meeting the necessary grade requirements. Then each student athlete has to make the roster by competing for a position, and showing great character by being on time to meetings and practice as well as showing great sportsmanship. “Not only are we looking to develop great football players, but we are looking to help develop and guide young men into thinking and acting in a positive manner, and helping these young men develop careers around a sport in which they love,” says Smith and CEO of TRU Sports Foundation.

Student athletes must register at www.TruSportsFoundation.org  under the TEXAS Game, in order to participate in the All Star showcase.

Player/ Parent Meeting

Saturday, December 10, 2016 there will be a mandatory Player/Parent meeting, which will begin at 11:00 am at the J. Erik Jonsson Central Library  1st Floor, 1515 Young Street Dallas, TX  75201.

This event will provide graduating seniors with one final opportunity to showcase their talents not only to their peers, but also to any potential coaches and recruiters representing colleges and universities from all across the United States.  In order to be considered for participation, students are required to maintain a 2.5 Core grade point average and have taken the ACT and/or the SAT exam.

For the last 7 years, the PRIVATE vs PUBLIC ALL STAR SHOWCASE has been successfully conducted in Miami, Florida, and we hope to continue providing this once in a lifetime opportunity to any senior that aspires to go to the next level. CEO, Mario Smith and COO, Darrell Harbert both played for Kansas State in the early 1990’s and were part of what is deemed as one of the greatest turn arounds in college football history under Hall of Fame Coach Bill Synder (Kansas State), as well as other notable coaches such as Bob Stoops (University of Oklahoma) and Jim Leavitt (University of Colorado). We (Smith and Harbert) have discussed bringing this event to the DFW area to allow this opportunity to broaden the horizons of the prospective athletes based on both private and public sectors playing in a variety of state championships.

In addition to the actual game, this opportunity will provide players with other opportunities, including a media day press event with insight into the interview process and an opportunity to speak with and be addressed by the media.  There will also be a Battle of the Bands event during half-time (bands TBD).

“We are extremely excited to host an All-Star Game that not only allows players, parents and fans alike, the opportunity to experience an action-packed and competitive contest between some of the state’s top ranked schools, but incorporates time in to the schedule for athletes to go out and make a difference in the lives of others, truly making this a community-wide event,” said Smith. Game tickets are $8 for high school students with a valid I.D. and $10 for general admission (Children under three admitted free).
