North Carolina Start-Up Announces Launch of Trump Potato for Charity

NC start-up Trump Potato is excited to announce the launch of their flagship product “The Trump Potato”. The product, a potato with president-elect Donald Trump’s face and signature combover attached, can be sent anonymously to anyone in the United States, and over one third of the product’s purchase price will be donated to charity. An innovative way to enrage your relatives, friends, and enemies who voted for ‘The Donald’, a caricature potato is sent to the recipient along with a card thanking them for the donation made on their behalf to the charity of your choice. Customers can choose to donate to organizations such as Planned Parenthood, The American Civil Liberties Union, The Human Rights Campaign, and The National Immigration Law Center, among others. 

In the battleground state of North Carolina, founder Julia Adams said the goal of the product was three-fold, “To fund worthy charitable institutions while amusing purchasers and annoying recipients.” Adams, who is married to an immigrant to the United States, relates that, “After Donald was elected president, we realized that these organizations will need contributions more than ever, because their work is going to be increasingly relevant.” Adams hopes that the product will encourage people to donate and spread awareness about the issues these organizations advocate for. At a time when many are hopeless about the future, Adams wanted to introduce a product that could make people laugh. “It’s a little tongue-in-cheek, but ultimately we’re going to be able to do some real good,” she says. 

Unlike a variety of Trump products made in China, Bangladesh, Honduras, and Vietnam, all Trump Potatoes are grown, manufactured, and packaged in the United States. The Trump Potato features a photo of a bald Donald Trump with a realistic, brush-able toupee attached. Packages are all sent completely anonymously, and contain a card thanking the recipient for a donation made on their behalf to one of the charitable organizations working to promote the many ideas that Trump has expressed such disdain for in his campaign, such as women’s reproductive rights and immigration reform.
