ALLEN, TX - 09/12/2016 (PRESS RELEASE JET)

No Magic, the leading global provider of integrated modeling, simulation and analysis services and solutions, announced today the release of its new FIBO – Cameo® Concept Modeler microsite, powered by No Magic’s Cameo Collaborator. The site launch coincides with the launch of FIBO-V, the FIBO-Vocabulary Early Adopter Program, which focuses on FIBO as both an ontology and a vocabulary. The intent is to expedite the implementation of FIBO as a structured vocabulary.

Cameo Concept Modeler offers a user-friendly bridge between modeling and ontology, giving users a means to quickly and easily model concepts without extensive training in formal description logic. The FIBO microsite underscores the fact that Cameo Concept Modeler is one of the leading tools currently on the market, giving users the ability to view FIBO models as a concept model.

FIBO (Financial Industry Business Ontology) is a financial industry standard providing a description of the structure and contractual obligations of financial instruments, legal entities, market data and financial processes. With the launch of the No Magic FIBO microsite – http://www.nomagic.com/magicfibo – No Magic continues to strengthen its strong relationship with the FIBO standardization team at the OMG® and EDM Council.

The new No Magic FIBO microsite allows users to:

  • view FIBO as a concept model with Cameo Concept Modeler, using No Magic’s Cameo Collaborator – visualizing FIBO is key in understanding the relationships among and between commonly used financial terms. CCM simplifies this process, allowing users to import FIBO and visualize it using a modeling approach embraced by business people who rely on FIBO.
  • view the FIBO natural language glossary in real time – CCM automatically builds a natural language glossary directly from FIBO; associated FIBO-V diagrams and a natural language glossary have been published to the new microsite for FIBO.
  • view the No Magic toolchain – once users have imported FIBO into Cameo Concept Modeler, this can be tied into the entire No Magic toolchain for publishing, reviewing and commenting via Cameo Collaborator.

“FIBO and its place within the financial industry is just one area where ontology is playing an increasingly important role,” said Enrique Krajmalnik, No Magic’s CTO. “That’s why there has already been tremendous user interest in this FIBO microsite, which clearly highlights the power of CCM for importing financial industry business ontology concepts, while at the same time showing users the extensive natural language glossary live. The microsite shows the power and ease of use of our MagicDraw® platform and how it can be used to solve business vocabulary problems,” Enrique said.

Specific features of the new Cameo Concept Modeler that directly benefit FIBO include UI enhancements for creating and exporting concept models, natural language glossary enhancements, technical RDF/OWL optimizations, and support for property chains, equivalent classes and equivalent properties.

“We are pleased with the hard work that the No Magic team has invested in FIBO, and especially with the ease of use of Cameo Concept Modeler and Cameo Collaborator as integral elements of the FIBO Build-Test-Deploy-Maintain Methodology,” commented Dennis Wisnosky, Senior Advisor to EDMC and FIBO Project Manager.
