Local Author Celebrates New Picture Book Featuring Favorite Birds of the Land of Enchantment

Kristen Clark, author of nearly twenty books and new to the greater Albuquerque area, is celebrating the release of a new book published by American Mutt Press. Titled FAVORITE BIRDS OF NEW MEXICO: TREASURES OF THE LAND OF ENCHANTMENT, this full-color picture book spotlights over twenty displaced and migratory bird species that have visited Clark’s backyard since the “Dog Head” fire in June. 

Inspired by the recent influx of birds at her 2.5 acres of certified wildlife habitat in Tijeras, author and photographer Kristen Clark is celebrating the launch of her latest book, currently available on Amazon and other online retailers.

“We’ve had an influx of birds, some the result of normal paths of migration and many that have been displaced by the Dog Head fire.  I was deeply inspired to photograph those birds and share them with others in this educational picture book,” said Kristen, author of five other books about birds and backyard birding.

Featuring over 20 bird species present in the Manzano mountain range, located in Central New Mexico, this book includes full-color photographs and educational descriptions of the birds unique to this mountainous habitat, including the Northern Flicker, Pygmy Nuthatch, Black-Throated Gray Warbler, and many more.

Kristen adds, “I want others to enjoy the quiet excitement and adventure this land has to offer and celebrate the beauty of our fine-feathered friends.  And 100% of the proceeds from sales of this book will go to the proper care and feeding of the birds that visit our certified wildlife habitat.”

Kristen is raising $10,500 dollars to stock their certified wildlife habitat with much needed natural and provided food and water sources for the impacted birds. Interested parties can purchase a copy of this new book on Amazon or other online retailers and support her effort.
