Swim 2.0 makes it easier for developers to rapidly build, deploy and scale reactive apps

SAN JOSE, CA - 04/26/2016 (PRESS RELEASE JET)

Swim.it announced today the newest version of its platform for reactive application development - Swim 2.0. New features in this release include stateful data services, enhanced security, client and server SDKs and a scalable runtime architecture. These innovations make it easier for developers to create reactive IoT, mobile and web applications at a lower TCO than any other solution on the market.

"Traditional application architectures and platforms are quickly becoming obsolete in the face of realtime data generated by the IoT," said Rusty Cumpston, CEO & Founder. “Moreover, digital transformation is driving the need for dev teams to move faster than ever before. We designed Swim to eliminate the complexity of managing backend infrastructure and give developers more time to write frontend application code that creates differentiation. We want to arm organizations with the capabilities to drive innovation via software and deliver amazing app experiences. Swim 2.0 provides just that.”

“Swim 2.0 builds out the architectural vision that we embarked upon with Swim 1.0 to significantly improve development efficiency at a lower cost,” said Rao Arimilli, CTO & Founder. Swim is an integrated, end-to-end platform that powers an application’s backend including messaging, persistence, automatic services execution, HA, data replication, scaling and more. Think of Swim as an awesome member of your team that wrangles all the messy, technical backend stuff.

The new features in Swim 2.0 include:

  • Stateful Data Services - Swim services wrap instance data with continuously running code, making it easy to implement intelligent, autonomous behaviour. Swim services can link together to create higher order models of complex systems. Data and the associated state is local to each service reducing processing latency.

  • Client and Server SDKs - Rich SDKs enable application development to be simplified. Pre-built functionality (e.g., offline client and merge) enable rapid application development with a rich set of features. Native clients can be developed using iOS and Android SDKs.

  • Deep Privacy and Security - Data is managed by a single instance of data service and therefore all security measures - encryption, storage, access restrictions, verifications - can be isolated in that data service. Similarly, privacy data related masking and/or access restrictions can be isolated in that data service.

  • Scalable Runtime Architecture - Swim distributes, executes and monitors data services using infrastructure specification provided. Swim can scale at runtime without requiring a developer to write any scalability code. Swim data service introspection allows DevOps to continuously monitor and automatically manage applications.

All new features of Swim become generally available on April 26th, 2016. Learn more at www.swim.it/platform.
