The first company ever to sell stringed instruments online credits two successful decades in business to loyal fans and a dedicated staff of knowledgeable musicians.

GENEVA, IL - 01/17/2017 (PRESS RELEASE JET)

The year was 1997, and the internet was still deep in a process of self-discovery. In a move that began as more of an experiment, founder Todd French launched the initial StringWorks website – hoping to find a new way to connect musicians to high quality stringed instruments.

French, a cellist with an impressive resume that includes the Los Angeles Philharmonic and Los Angeles Opera, took a close look at many instrument lines, but found them to be lacking. He eventually realized that StringWorks would need to design its own line of instruments, in order to pair affordability with high quality craftsmanship, exceptional sound, beautiful appearance, quality tonewood, ease of playing, and specifications meeting or exceeding those set by the National Association for Music Education (formerly the MENC).

"I envisioned an impeccable product line that could meet my very high standards. Fine instruments that would be as affordable as they were exceptional,” French explained. “It took years of development and research, but the result is a truly superior product, offered at an incredibly reasonable price.”

From that initial launch in 1997, StringWorks has continued to grow and expand – reaching more and more musicians every year. The current StringWorks line offers high quality instruments suitable for students and professionals alike, and the workmanship is guaranteed.

“Our customers regularly applaud our products, and it's really not surprising," said Evan Lowery, StringWorks Vice President. "Our luthiers spend anywhere from four to seven hours setting up each and every instrument. That's more than double the industry standard, but it’s all part of ensuring that each musician receives a truly superior product.”

To celebrate two successful decades, each instrument sold in 2017 will include a special 20th Anniversary label inside. StringWorks will be also be launching a new line of instruments - The Legacy Collection. This American-made collection, the brainchild of French, has been in the making for nearly a decade, and promises to be a strong addition to the StringWorks family of products.
