Gary Clifford, Director of Pragmus Capital, and Executive Chairman for Tellza Communications Inc., was selected as “Top CEO of the Year” for 2016-2017 by the International Association of Top Professionals (IAOTP). 

While inclusion with the International Association of Top Professionals is an honor in itself, only a few members in each discipline are chosen for this distinction. These special honorees are distinguished based on their professional accomplishments, academic achievements, leadership abilities, longevity in the field, other affiliations and contributions to their communities.  All honorees are invited to attend the IAOTP’s annual award gala at the end of this year for a night to honor their achievements.

With over 25 years of professional experience as an entrepreneur, Gary has certainly proved himself as an accomplished business leader and expert in many different stages of the business industry. As a talented, dynamic, results-driven leader, he has demonstrated success, having started and incubated new businesses, completed numerous acquisitions, dispositions and financings with organizations at different stages of the business life cycle.  Gary also grew Tellza Communications from $120 million USD to more than $400 Million USD while remaining profitable  during this growth. His expertise & experience also includes: digital media, technology, broadcasting, telecommunications, clean technology, real estate, manufacturing and financial services.

As Executive Chairman of Tellza Communication Inc, Gary’s key responsibilities is to  
oversee the strategic direction of the business. Tellza is organized into three business units: Tellza Communications which is a global communications company operating under several brands: Route Dynamix, Phonetime, and MatchcoM. Tellza Technologies provides real time big data management tools for the telecommunications market. Tellza Investments seeks portfolio investment opportunities in various market places. Tellza is a public company listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange (TEL).

As Managing Director of Pragmus, Gary oversees all investment activities of Pragmus which amongst other things includes serving as Special Limited Partner with Yaletown Partners, A leading clean technology fund. Director of Fleetwood Fine Furniture, A B2B Company focused on the hotel industry.  Director of Vizimax Inc., a leading independent provider of controlled switching devices and distribution automation systems with intelligent M2M feature sets. He serves as an Enabler to Solegear Bioplastics Technologies Inc., a next generation bioplastics company and Trustee to the One Yorkville Condominium project, being developed by Plaza Corporation.

Formerly Gary served as the Executive Vice President of Counsel Corporation and Leitch Technology, both TSX listed. He is a builder, fixer, a facilitator, a problem solver, and a financial expert. Gary is renowned throughout the international business community and he has been recognized worldwide for his outstanding leadership and commitment to the profession. In 2016 he was named “Top CEO of the Year” with the International Association of Top Professionals and inducted into the International Society of Business Leaders as “Member of the Year.”  Gary has served on numerous public company boards, and is a Chartered Accountant and a member of the National Association of Corporate Directors.  He received his Bachelor of Arts in Management from the University of Toronto and received his Chartered Accountant Certification from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Ontario.

Looking back, Gary attributes his success to striving for excellence, taking on new business challenges and opportunities, his passion, energy, perseverance and solid judgment.  When he is not working he enjoys his family, travelling and golf.  For the future, he will continue to grow as an entrepreneur and hopes to continue to inspire others.
