Annual event provides crucial funding for soccer-based programs supporting hundreds of underserved youth in Chicago's Northwest suburbs.

MOUNT PROSPECT, IL - 07/06/2016 (PRESS RELEASE JET)

Elite Soccer Community Organization (ESCO), a comprehensive soccer-based youth development organization, will be holding their 5th Annual Golf Outing on July 15, 2016. The event will take place at the Old Orchard Country Club, located at 700 W. Rand Road in Mount Prospect, IL.

Established in 2010, ESCO has grown tremendously as a resource for the area's underserved youth. According to the United States Census Bureau, 17 percent of Cook County residents are living in poverty. This includes nearly 900,000 residents and approximately 25 percent of the county's children. Children living in poverty tend to have lower self-esteem and experience higher levels of stress and depression. The programs and opportunities offered through ESCO aim to offset these trends by offering a positive and supportive outlet for youth throughout the Chicagoland area and particularly within the Northwest suburbs.

In the past four years alone, the organization has provided free soccer programming to more than 450 undeserved youth as well as leadership training to 200 youth. Through a dedication to community involvement, ESCO has also donated 520 Thanksgiving food baskets and $5,800 in grocery store gift cards to the Wheeling Township Food Pantry.

The proceeds from the golf outing will support these ongoing initiatives, including robust scholarship and financial assistance programs. Since 2012, ESCO has distributed $3,000 in college scholarships as well as an additional $3,000 in financial assistance to those who would like to play club soccer but lack funding. The 2016 ESCO Scholarships winners, Patrick Hickey and Thomas Ladd, will be honored at the 5th Annual Golf Outing dinner.

ESCO’s founder and president, Mike Steele, views the outing as instrumental to the organization's mission. "ESCO is especially thankful for the sponsors and community participation in the golf outing. This event is the largest ESCO fundraiser and each participant's generosity enables ESCO to fulfill its mission to build community by developing youth through soccer in the Northwest suburbs of Chicago," said Steele.

Community hole and foursome sponsors of this year's event include: Anderson Lock, ASSA ABLOY, Axia Law, Bartlett Insurance, Command Transportation, Chicagoland Commissary Dunkin' Donuts, Kelley Drye, Kalamaris Family, Lechner & Sons, McDermott Will & Emery, Meatheads, Northwestern Mutual Financial Network, Panattoni Development Company, Inc., Restaurant HR Group, Reliable Contracting & Equipment Company, RS Sales, Tribler Orpett & Meyer P.C., and Viti Companies.
