Demolition Kick-Off Launched Redevelopment of San Jacinto Mall in Baytown, TX

Fidelis Realty Partners, owner of San Jacinto Mall, was joined today by Baytown officials to kick-off the initial demolition phase of the former Ward’s and Bealls buildings.  Serving as backdrop for the demolition project was the heavy equipment that will be used on site for the estimated three-month long project.  During the construction, San Jacinto Mall will remain open for business throughout the process.  
 
“We are very pleased to start this phase of the redevelopment process for San Jacinto Mall that has served the community since 1981,” said Alan Hassenflu, CEO of Fidelis.  “Currently, we are right on target with our planning efforts.  As we unveil our design concept in 2017, the plan will reflect a broad selection of highly sought after tenants and be recognized as a family-friendly center where the community can congregate to enjoy shopping, dining, and entertainment options in an inviting, spacious, and aesthetically pleasing environment.”
 
City of Baytown officials on-site for the kick-off included Mayor Stephen DonCarlos; Councilman Brandon Capetillo; Councilman Terry Sain, City Manager Rick Davis, Deputy City Manager Ron Bottoms, Assistant City Manager Kevin Troller, and Associate Executive Director/Economic Development B.J. Simon.
 
Officials from Fidelis Realty Partners in attendance at the kick-off included Alan Hassenflu, CEO; Hector Mendez, Interim Director, Development, Construction & Facilities Management; and Mary Evans, General Manager of San Jacinto Mall.  
 
Also in attendance were Bill Patin, Associate Principal with Boucher Design Group, and Dennis Clooney, Demolition Experts.
 
“This is the beginning of a new chapter in the life of the San Jacinto Mall. Our citizens are excited about what the next chapter will bring and we are confident that Fidelis will deliver a first-class retail center that will appeal to our entire region,” said Mayor DonCarlos.
 
About San Jacinto Mall
Purchased in July 2015 by Fidelis Realty Partners, LTD, San Jacinto Mall is slated for redevelopment over the next 60 months start to finish with the design concept to be unveiled in 2017.  The mall will remain open for business during the construction.  Currently San Jacinto Mall is anchored by Macy's, JCPenney, Marshalls and Sears.  Guests have more than 80 retailers and restaurants to enjoy, including Bath & Body Works, Journeys, Champs, Foot Locker, Footaction, Icing, Visible Changes, Zales, Payless Shoe Source, and Merle Norman.
