The Kerr Street Mission, "Oakville's Mission of Hope", has many programs and events to help the Oakville community. Their Mission is to:
- Help the community of Oakville care for low-income and at-risk families and youth (efficiently and effectively).
- Come alongside families in distress to help them get to a healthier more sustainable situation
- Develop youth so they don't end up in poverty)
Annually adorning your Christmas tree with ornaments always captures the excitement of Christmas. To assist in fundraising, Budds' Subaru is selling beautiful blue and white Christmas Ornaments, adorned with their logo, for only $2.00. All proceeds will go directly to the Mission, which in turn will help out those in need.
The Christmas Tree first appeared as far back as the 15th and 16th century in Germany. It then emerged in the United States in the 1700's, but they were adorned with apples, wafers, angels, and flowers. The decorated Christmas trees didn't become popular in the U.S. until the 1800's, when families emigrating from England and Germany brought ornaments with them.
The ornaments at that time were primarily hand-case lead or hand-blown glass decoration and came from Germany. As time went on, Japan, Czechoslovakia entered into manufacturing ornaments in 1925. More than 250 million ornaments were being imported into the U.S. by 1935.
