NEW YORK CITY, NY - 10/14/2016 (PRESS RELEASE JET)

Duty of Care is a concept often neglected by U.S. employers, and is needed now more than ever, especially after the horrendous events in Europe and Asia in the past few months. Global companies must realize there is a direct moral, social and legal responsibility that links U.S. employees on international assignment to their company. Unfortunately, too many C-level executives are not aware that they are ultimately responsible for what happens to their employees abroad. Therefore, Duty of Care is needed now more than ever to understand the Safety and Security obligations towards the employee of any organization, and it is imperative for C-suite executives and small business enterprises to take international travel seriously and demonstrate proper care toward their workforce.

"I dealt with Duty of Care issues first hand when my father was on an overseas assignment in Yemen when he had a heart attack. Unfortunately, I had to step in and personally made the arrangements for a medical airlift out of Yemen, making arrangements to pay up all the medical and other bills etc. It surely left an impact on me, as I am also a female business owner travelling solo around the globe. I am declaring Duty of Care Day on October 26, 2016, to help Corporate world, small business owners, HR and security professionals understand and learn from the global safety and security issues, which include cyber security, identity theft, medical issues, accidents, jurisdiction law issues, even selection of safe and secure accommodations along with choosing the safe travel means or any financial issues." - Iram Ganju, President of IKG Global Consultants and founder of Duty of Care Day

October 26 has been chosen as Duty of Care Day inspired by a breakthrough in the aviation industry, making globalization a reality. Pan American Airways flew its first Boeing 707 jetliner from NY to Paris, making a tremendous difference in the business world and it was the beginning of the concept of Globalization. Since we are talking about New York city, the transatlantic aviation innovation made New York the precursive global capital of the world.

Therefore, October 26 has been chosen as Duty of Care Day because, on October 26, 1958 Pan American launched its first Boeing 707 flight from NYC to Paris, which supported globalization by decreasing the transatlantic travel time and benefiting the cross border business. Duty of Care concept was not even a thought back then.

From 1958 to 2016, 58 years later we have seen atrocities such as 9/11, we have seen numerous bombings around the world, kidnapping, ISIS crisis, terrorist shootings, natural disasters, disease breakouts, and so on. We need to have the business world adapt and understand the Duty of Care: Understanding legal and moral obligations to secure the safety of business travelers and the overseas workforce.

Duty of Care Conference: Understanding your corporate liability for securing the safety of travelling employees and expats overseas. October 26-27, 2016, New York City.
