"Struggles of the Women Folk" Wins FAPA Award

TAMPA, FL - 08/08/2016 (PRESS RELEASE JET)

Amazon Best Seller Struggles of the Women Folk, has copped the 2016 Florida Authors and Publishing Association (FAPA) award for Adult – Historical  Fiction. The award was presented at the President’s Book Awards Banquet on August 6, 2016, in Orlando, Florida, at the FAPA annual conference.

Written by T.M. Brown, Struggles of the Women Folk tells the gripping and inspiring tale of a young black girl, Georgie, who is living in a small rural town, in Virginia in the 1940s. Life is hard for her but she dreams of better life. Georgie loses friends and family, as well as the love of her life. However, she still remains strong in spite of the adversities.

Struggles of the Women Folk is just one of the several inspiring books that Brown has written. When asked about her motivation to write this book. She said: This book is loosely based on the stories of my grandmother, born in 1926. I wanted to share what the black experience was like during the post slavery timeframe."

Released in 2014, Struggles of the Women Folk, is still one of the most popular titles in Amazon's category of African American literary fiction. One reader summed up the overall appeal of the book. She said: "What a relatable book!! The story of Georgie, her mother and her Aunt Adele is the story of my mother, my great grandmother and all of my aunts who lived through this period in our history. You have to admire the strength and resiliency of all the characters while at the same time being cognizant of their vulnerability and lack of control over their own lives. Life threw curves but the women in this story persevered and maintained their tenuous hold on life."

Struggles of the Women Folk is a captivating read that will inspire readers. Themes of racism, sexism, love and determination are evident throughout the book. And, in a time when racism is raising its ugly head and sexism is rampant; the struggle is still real, which makes the story all the more relevant today.

The book is available on print and Kindle edition. For further details, visit: https://www.amazon.com/Struggles-Women-Folk-Tethered-Angel-ebook/dp/B00KAOYBWY/ref=la_B00BTFCLAW_1_3?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1470555224&sr=1-3.
